Marnie Michelle

for Judge

Lake County Circuit Court Judge - 3rd Subcircuit

“Justice, justice shall you pursue.”

Deuteronomy 16:18-21:9

It is my distinct honor to be running as a Democrat for Judge in Lake County in 2020.

I’ve been practicing law since 2001, when I graduated, from Indiana University School of Law. I did my undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois. I was a Dean’s List award recipient at both schools. Since graduating, I have served both in the public and private sectors. I practice criminal law, juvenile law, DCFS law, and real estate. I have been appointed by multiple judges in multiple counties to serve as either an attorney in a conflict or on an appeal or as Guardian ad Litem for DCFS wards.

I have been elected twice to the Aptakisic Tripp D102 School Board and am currently serving my second term. Being able to serve our community and its children is of the utmost importance to me. First, it is imperative we give a voice to families and children, who may or may not be able to speak for themselves. Second, if I want my own children to value their education, I need to value it.

I spent almost my entire life in Lake County Buffalo Grove. My husband and I now raise our twins in the house in which I grew up and bought from my mother. When I take the bench, the people before me will be our neighbors and they deserve the utmost respect and attention. Being a judge is not a right, but a privilege that I take seriously.

On the bench, fairness and equity would be the my guiding principles. Every person walking into my courtroom would be treated with kindness and respect, and they would leave knowing they mattered. My entire practice has been built on relationships and listening. This will suit me well on the other side of bench. Sentences must be authentic and calculated, so the the consequences serve society and justice, allowing room for the guilty to progress.
